Going to Eurovision? Been to Eurovision?

Post by maddog on Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:36 am

This would be a good place to share any potential plans for going to Eurovision. Also, for anyone who has been to Eurovision, to share some of your tips for going? Where are good places to stay? When are the best times to travel? What should you do and see during the 'Eurovision week/s'?

After being randomly charged £77 for ridiculous over-usage of bills (which we we're never contacted about) I think Copenhagen might be off for me Sad
I'm still determined to make Amsterdam or London though. Smile

I've always wanted to go to the show, but it's never actually happened. Copenhagen is a possibility though!

this is the only year I've had full parental backing so I'll do whatever I can... now acommdation... that'll be a challenge. It'd be nice if we could just get a flat for a week that we could all pitch into, otherwise I may learn about couchsurfing... or of course my beloved hostels.

Apartment, couchsurfing or hostels are the way forward. I still can't get over people booking ALL the hotels and flights up already. I'm seriously considering just getting a place in the next few weeks regardless of whether I an get a flight or tickets! Better to be safe than sorry? Also, we must not forget that Malmö is an alternative for accommodation.

It happens every single year, delegations will mass book all the hotels in the area until they've ironed out how much space they'll need, and then around maybe March stuff opens up.

haven't the foggiest. I was going to wait til February but it's worth having a look throughout the time before the show. We should probs ask Aria how she does it too.

In Malmö we (I was with a friend) got a place using the "Adopt a Eurovision fan" (or something like that) group on facebook, and we managed to find a room in April, right when we thought we wouldn't be able to go. It was the perfect solution for us, because it was cheap. It was also far from the Arena and the Euroclub, but it wasn't a problem until we missed the last night bus and we had to walk.

What's happened with the tickets? I've seen rumors that they've already sold out, yet from a search on Twitter it seems a lot of people are still in the dark about whether they've even been released?

Getting Eurovision tickets sounds like scary business. I'm already nervous and I'm not even planning on going yet.

Something would be on the website, surely? Plus people on twitter would be confirming if they had got tickets by now as well.
